KYC & AML Policy

Red Deer Casino is committed to preventing money laundering, terrorist financing, fraud and underage gambling. This Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Policy explains how we verify our players, monitor activity and meet our obligations under Canadian law.

1. Why We Verify

Verification protects you and keeps our casino safe. It allows us to:

  • confirm you are 19 or older;
  • make sure you are who you say you are and that your account cannot be misused by someone else;
  • confirm you are playing from a location where we can offer our services;
  • prevent fraud, identity theft and the misuse of payment methods;
  • meet our anti-money laundering and regulatory duties.

2. Identity and Age Verification

Verification is completed before you can make any deposit. We may confirm your details electronically through trusted verification providers. If electronic checks are not enough, we will ask for documents, such as:

  • Photo ID: a valid passport, driver's licence or provincial or territorial photo ID card;
  • Proof of address: a recent utility bill, bank statement or government letter showing your name and address;
  • Proof of payment method: for example, a photo of your card with the middle digits covered, or a screenshot of your e-wallet account showing your name;
  • A selfie or live photo: in some cases, to match you to your ID.

Documents must be clear, valid, in colour and show all four corners. We may ask for further documents at any time if information needs to be confirmed or updated.

3. Geolocation Checks

We check your location before deposits and during play to make sure you are in a place where our services are permitted. Attempts to hide your location using VPNs, proxies or similar tools are prohibited.

4. Source of Funds and Source of Wealth

Where your activity reaches certain levels, changes significantly or raises questions, we may ask where your money comes from. Examples of documents we may request include:

  • recent payslips or an employment letter;
  • bank statements;
  • tax documents;
  • evidence of savings, investments, a property sale or an inheritance.

We may pause deposits or withdrawals until these checks are completed.

5. Ongoing Monitoring

Verification is not a one-time step. We continually monitor accounts and transactions to identify unusual patterns, such as:

  • deposits and withdrawals with little or no gameplay;
  • rapid changes in deposit amounts or frequency;
  • use of several payment methods or methods in other names;
  • links between accounts or attempts to avoid limits.

Accounts showing higher risk may be subject to enhanced due diligence.

6. Politically Exposed Persons and Sanctions Screening

We screen players against sanctions lists and politically exposed person (PEP) databases at registration and periodically afterwards. If you are a PEP, a family member or close associate of a PEP, we will apply enhanced checks and may ask for additional information. We do not accept players who appear on applicable sanctions lists.

7. Record Keeping and Reporting Obligations

  • We keep verification documents, transaction records and related information for the periods required by Canadian law, including after an account is closed.
  • Where required, we report large or suspicious transactions to the competent Canadian authorities.
  • The law may prevent us from telling you that a report has been made.
  • We cooperate fully with lawful requests from regulators and law enforcement.

8. Payment Rules

  • All transactions are in Canadian dollars (CAD).
  • You may only use payment methods registered in your own name.
  • Withdrawals are normally returned to the method used to deposit, where that method supports withdrawals.
  • We may require deposited funds to be wagered before they are withdrawn.

9. If Checks Are Not Passed

If you do not provide requested information within the time we give, or if the information cannot be verified, we may:

  • suspend deposits, play or withdrawals;
  • void bonuses and winnings linked to false or incomplete information;
  • close your account;
  • report the matter to the relevant authorities where required by law.

Where funds are lawfully yours and no legal restriction applies, we will return them to you once the matter is resolved.
